The first time I was presented with a business opportunity, I did it purely for the hunger to make big money. A few months later, that company collapsed and a few years later I was invited to another business opportunity. Having been burnt the first time round I was naturally sceptical and only went along because I had nothing better to do that particular evening.
It just so happened that this presentation had a special guest speaker who was the top earner in the company, as well as a motivational speaker and coach. This was my first actual encounter to personal development and it blew me away. He didn’t really talk so much about the company and its products but he talked a lot about mindset, following your dreams and the rewards of financial independence and it was this that got me onboard. – I no longer focused on the money.
For all the money and nice things money can buy, if you don’t have the self belief and focus to pursue the level of success you want, total fulfilment will always be out of reach. When you really get it, it’s not the money and success you will achieve in the end, and rather the person you become along the way.
No one can deny the fact that money is a necessity in this world, it provides for most things in order to survive and function, especially in our western world today. It gives credibility and peace of mind to many people. However, you will also realise that there are many people in this world who may have a lot of money and nice material things but they are not really happy. This could be due to many reasons, such as guilt, health, unhappy relationships or even lack of one. And what you realise is that money can never really buy any of those things, it may provide a great vehicle to do so but it is still ultimately up to you how you deal with the issue/s that are stopping you from actually being happy.
Money really cannot buy you happiness. Yes it can buy you many things that may make you feel happy in the short term, but if those things are really what define you and give you your identity, then there is most probably something bigger missing in your life. You may or may not have set goals for yourself with your business. And in the bigger picture this is very important in that if you want to be rich from your business or any financial investment, you need to identify why it is you really want to be rich.
What dreams you have put on hold, will the money now allow you to achieve? What would you do with your time, if you no longer had to work? What could you do for your friends and family that you couldn’t before? These are only a few of the questions you can ask yourself in your pursuit of fortune. Too many people believe that than when they make the money, they will be happier and unfortunately this is why they struggle to make it.
